Tasting - Yellow Tail Cabernet Merlot

Name: Yellow Tail Cabernet Merlot
Region/Country: Australia
Year: 2014
Price: $10-- Sale $4.95

Winery Review: A classic blend of Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (60%). Medium-bodied and very approachable with soft tannins. Fruit-forward flavors of plum, cherry, and blackberry are accented by notes of spice with more juicy berries on the finish.

My Review: There was a very woody and spicy scent in this wine. The blend of two types makes this wine fairly smooth to the tongue. There is a clear punch of cherry and plum flavors inside the mouth. Although it was not bitter or dry, I found it to be not very approachable, unlike what it says in the winery review. I would give this wine an 81. I tasted this on its own with no food.
